Fight the Phrag!

Volunteers needed!

Phragmites is an invasive plant threatening recreation and wildlife habitat​​ along the Collingwood shoreline.

We'll be cutting this shoreline invader at morning and afternoon work parties at locations along the shoreline, and celebrate with a BBQ lunch. Volunteers can choose which shifts work for their schedule.

Beeton Creek Restoration Project - Community Information Workshop

Join NVCA and the South Simcoe Streams Network for a community​​​ meeting to learn more about restoration work planned along Beeton Creek in fall 2018.

We’ll be discussing:

  • Where and when work will take place
  • What improvements are planned
  • Benefits to trout and other aquatic life, water quality and recreation
  • How you can get involved in this exciting project

The event includes guest presentations from the Town of New Tecumseth and the Nottawasaga Steelheaders.

Refreshments for the meeting are provided compliments of the Tottenham Lions Club.  Foodbank donations welcome.

Clearview Township and NVCA are hosting a TD Tree Days​ event at the Clearview EcoPark! 

We are looking for volunteers to help us plant 250 trees along Lamont Creek. Groups are welcome to attend, as are high school students (eligible for community hours).

Edible Wild Walk - Autumn

Karen Stephenson​ will identify plants and describe their edible and medicinal values, ending off with a wild-plant beverage (bring your own mug). Karen is a certified Master Naturalist who has been a forager for over ten years and a wild food educator for five.

If you want these and all your other questions about mushrooms answered, join renowned naturalist Bob Bowles and learn how mushrooms grow, where they grow, how to identify them, their relationship with trees and the soil, and what species are edible.

TD Tree Days - Minesing Wetlands Volunteer Plant

Festival at Fort Willow
Date: Saturday, September 29, 2018 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Location: Fort Willow Conservation Area


Come to Fort Willow and witness life as it was during the early 19th century with hands-on demonstrations for all ages!

  • military, First Nations and voyageur encampments
  • cannon and musket firing demonstrations
  • re-enactors and authentic demonstrations of medicine, sewing, cooking, weaving, blacksmithing and more
  • children’s activities including musket drills, candle making and beading

Hike the Bruce - Small Halls Festival Event

This is an escorted hike on the Bruce Trail at the Nottawasaga Bluffs Conservation Area. You won't want to miss the spectacular 'clear views' from the look out!

Free admission as part of the Small Halls Festival

Meet at the Singhampton Community Centre  on Sunday September 30, 2018 at 11:00 AM sharp. Dress for the weather. Please bring your own water and snacks.

Christmas Bird Count for Kids

A springtime tradition!  Maple syrup takes centre stage at the Spring Tonic festival, with a pancake and sausage breakfast served daily until 2 p.m.
