​​Camp Tiffin to offer strike camp during school closures

Strike camp 2022

Strike Camp Tiffin is full. 

In support of families affected by school closures, if schools are closed past Friday November 4, Camp Tiffin will be open starting Monday, November 7, 2022.  ​

Camp Tiffin is located at the 300+ acre Tiffin Centre for Conservation in 10 minutes outside of Barrie, Innisfil and Angus, featuring a mixture of wetlands, forests, open meadows and ancient lake beds. These areas are homes for many plants and animals!

Activ​​​ities

​​​Adopted from our traditional summer camp program, this special edition of Camp Tiffin encourages outdoor exploration, guided excursions in the forest fueled by student interest. Every day will be guided by student inquiry, seasonal changes, and weather and program availability.

Some things we will be doing at camp include: Hiking, geo​caching, nature games, shelter building and wilderness survival.​​

Fees

Each program will require a minimum number of 6 campers to run. If capacity isn't reached, we will cont​act you for a refund.​​

Schedule​​

Camp Tiffin will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Extended care is available from 8:00 a.m. - 9 a.m. in the morning, and 4 p.m. - 5:0​0 p.m. in the afternoon

​​What to Br​ing

​All Weather:

  • ​Appropriate clothing—suitable for outdoor activity & weather conditions
  • Long pants and socks—pack an extra pair to leave at camp for forest-based activities
  • Lunch—nut free along with a freezer pack
  • Healthy snacks
  • Water bottle
  • Signed code of conduct and optional questionnaire.
Winter:
  • Hat 
  • Waterproof boots - a must!
  • Extra waterproof mitts
  • Snow pants
  • Extra socks
  • Indoor shoes

Summer​:
  • Closed-toe shoes—a MUST!
  • Rain gear, rubber boots
  • Long pants and socks—pack an extra pair to leave at camp for forest-based activities

The Tiffin Centre will not be providing food or a water fountain, however there is potable water to be accessed via tap or ​water jug with educator help.​

​Label all Items

To help us get all your child's belongings home at the end of the week, make sure their names are on all personal items.

Leave Valuables at Home

Leave cell phones and other valuables at home. These have a habit of falling out of pockets and getting lost in the woods! If campers do bring valuables we are not responsible for them.

Drop off / Pick​​ up

Our extended care service must be pre-arranged. It is available from

8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. in the morning and/or from 4 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the evening

Refunds and cancellation

Each program will require a minimum number of 6 campers to run. If capacity isn't reached, we will contact you for a refund.​​

Please note that the program may be cancelled at any time due to COVID-19 restrictions. Families will receive 100% refund if programming is cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions. 

If a child or family member has symptoms of COVID-19, please do not come to camp. A full refund will be issued.
