Utopia Conservation Area
Utopia Conservation Area is now open for recreational use! The revitalized conservation area now features new trails, interpretive signs and eco-respectful, seasonal washrooms - all accessible to people of all abilities.
Located 15 minutes outside of Barrie, the Utopia Conservation Area is known for its historic grist mill, nature trails, wetlands and abundant biodiversity. The conservation area is home to a wide variety of plants and animals, including several endangered Butternut trees.
Parking Fees
- Daily Parking - $10.00 + HST per vehicle
- Annual Parking - $71.00 + HST per vehicle (valid for all NVCA-operated conservation areas)

Your parking fees help offset the cost of maintaining and improving NVCA conservation areas.

From the City of Barrie, go west on County Rd. 90 to the 6th Concession of Essa. Turn left (south) and travel for 4 km to the entranceway on your left.

Friends of Utopia Park & Gristmill
The Friends of the Utopia Gristmill and Park work to raise funds for the preservation and restoration of Bell's Gristmill. They host a number of events each year in support of their work. Learn more at
