Concert at Tiffin
“Tunes in the Trees” is a coffee house style concert featuring Rick Groves and Edward St Moritz. Enjoy an evening of live music in the natural beauty of the Tiffin Centre for Conservation. Proceeds go towards maintaining conservation areas in the Nottawasaga Watershed.

Rick Groves started playing music when he was very young, listening to bands and performers such as the Beatles, CCR, The Guess Who, America, Gordon Lightfoot, but mostly artists who are singer/songwriters, etc., many of whom have influenced him in his style. Rick also composes his own songs and has played at many Open Mics and special events throughout Simcoe County and Ontario.
Rick used to perform monthly at a local restaurant/coffee house called TLC in Barrie which catered to weekly Open Mics and showcased musicians each week. Unfortunately, it closed just prior to COVID-19 in 2019.
At one point, Rick promoted and played at concerts at the Five Points Theatre (formerly the Mady Centre in Barrie) bringing in local talent that auditioned and presented them at several successful shows. He had the pleasure of presenting Liona Boyd, a 5-time Juno award winning Canadian classical guitarist at one show.
In May of 2017, Rick started on a new journey and that was playing music for residents at retirement homes and it has become a very fulfilling, fun and special part of his life. He plays throughout Simcoe County and area and that keeps him very active which he also appreciates. COVID-19 stopped that for some time but he is back playing again for the residents.
Currently, Rick is focusing on recording all his original music at his home recording studio and enjoying that a lot, along with re-connecting with 2 good friends in 2016 from his High School days and having a lot of fun playing music again. Rick has a Facebook page called Groove Studios which he is currently placing all of his original songs into.

Edward St Moritz creates and performs songs lyrically driven in a post-folk way, fusing elements of celtic sensibility, classical Old World influence, and gritty observation. Working with producer and musician Don Bray, Ed finished his CD of original songs “Small Things Shining Bright” in 2016. He recorded a second album “A Bit of Change”, produced by Ray Dillard in 2019 and release in September 2020.
At the moment, Ed makes Collingwood, Ontario his home. He has played on the east and west coast of Canada, He has opened for renowned folksinger/storyteller James Keelaghan in Midland, Ontario. He collaborated with Maestro Oliver Balaburski, conductor of Barrie’s Huronia Symphony Orchestra on an original commissioned 2014 Christmas holiday project “Sadie’s Door” writing the narrative portion of this musical work.

As well as having taught music and English as a second language in his private studio, he plays rhythm guitar in a local gypsy jazz combo, The Huronia Hot Strings, and was second violist for the Huronia Symphony Orchestra. He has recently joined a local choir, ChoralWorks in Collingwood.
Edward is now working on another set of songs for a third album, a series of art pieces converting photographs into soundscapes, and writing a novel about a grandmother’s diaries secretively written during the Japanese occupation of Indonesia during the second world war.
